The Electoral Commission (EC) will on Wednesday start displaying the voters' roll at polling stations across the country.

According to EC, the national wide exercise which determines if one will vote or not on the polling day winds up on August 11.

The exercise will be conducted daily between 8:00am to 6:00pm including weekends.

The electoral body displays the national voters' register in the build up to the general elections to strike off names of people who may have died since the previous election was conducted.

The EC chairman, Eng. Badru Kiggundu, said the electoral body will also establish the correctness of the voters' bio-data and confirming that photos appear against the correct particulars of individuals on the roll.

Kiggundu explained that non-citizens and Ugandans below 18 years of age whose names might have made it to the national voters' register by accident will also be struck off the roll as well as deleting names that appear more than once on the register and putting misplaced names in their correct polling areas.

National Identity cards will be used to identify voters in next year's national elections.
