KABERAMAIDO - A total of 600 supporters from opposition parties in Kaberamido district have crossed to the ruling party with just six month into the general elections.
The majority of them have been supporters of Forum for Democratic change (FDC) and Uganda People's Congress (UPC).
"We have been blindfolded by opposition for several years yet under the leadership of President Museveni we now have electricity, peace, free education for both primary and secondary," said Caroline Ajumo, a former FDC supporter who also doubles as the councilor for Alwa Sub-county.
Ajumo has also been the sub-county council speaker of Alwa.
Celestine Emesu, a former UPC stalwart reasoned that NRM has done a lot for the people of Teso compared to the past regimes.

"The NRM has done wonders that can be seen by all but opposition have chosen not to see; it's against that background that opposition has kept on lying to us that NRM is bad yet we now have the ferry, good road networks, health centers among others," Emesu said.
The 600 were on Saturday received to the ruling NRM party by the deputy NRM treasurer, Dr. Kenneth Omona who hailed them for rejecting lies of opposition.
"There are people who come from outside Teso every election to deceive us. They come to show us enemies who are actually not out enemies. They will tell you that NRM is our enemy, President Museveni is our enemy and because of that we fail to identify our correct enemy," Dr. Omona said.
He explained that Uganda's two enemies is poverty and lack of knowledge.

Dr. Omona who also doubles as the current MP for Kaberamido County explained that its not yet time to change President Museveni from power because his manifesto is on wealth creation for all Ugandans.
"How can you ask the driver to leave the seat in the middle of the bridge? It's not proper and we should leave President Museveni to steer until he cross the bridge," Dr. Omona said.
CD Enepu the NRM chairman Kaberamido explained that opposition has been weakened after over 1000 of their supports crossing to NRM since the start of this year.
He emphasized need for people in Teso to focus on education and agriculture since the country is peaceful with no wars that force people into camps
