Date: Sept 24-29

TWO weeks ago, Kampala Open organisers revealed that 24 countries had confirmed participation in the global event expected to bring a financial boost to the Kampala economy.

Now House of Talent say the number of participants is up to 32 countries, a ridiculously delicious total that will turn Kampala into a one-week carnival.

“We have received very overwhelming response from the countries. A total of 72 and 49 teams from the men and women categories respectively,” said House of Talent boss Eddie Okila.

The tournament is expected to attract as many as 10, 000 visitors to the country, from players, coaches and fans. The World beach Volleyball open is the second biggest event on the FIVB calendar after the World Championship and Uganda is the first African country to host the competition.

The competition, which is accompanied by a party atmosphere, will be held at Lugogo in the Uganda Manufacturers Association Auxiliary Parking, where works on setting up an appropriate arena are already underway.

The teams: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Czech, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Paraguay, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, USA, Venezuela.
