Still fresh from the Pension case scandal, city lawyer Bob Kasango has again found himself embroiled in another huge financial scandal and is currently being sought by police after he defrauded one of his clients’ money from the sale of her house in Kololo.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga told Sunday Vision that Kasango was being sought after by the Kiira road Police Station after he refused to appear and record a statement despite several requests from police.

“He is wanted by police for the offence of obtaining money by false pretense and police is appealing to anyone with information that may lead to his arrest and prosecution to pass it in confidence to the nearest police station,” Enanga said.

Efforts to get Kasango on phone on Saturday proved futile.

However Sunday Vision has learnt through an officer at the Kiira road police station that the disputed house was located in Kololo.

“The house belonged to a relative who asked him to sell it on her behalf because at the time she was in the United States. Kasango then advertised it, got a buyer and decided to pocket part of the money that was paid to him by the buyer and when the owner tried to contact him, he became elusive and stopped picking her calls,” the Police officer said.

The officer said they have been trying to locate Kasango but had failed. “He is never in office and neither does he answer his phones and that is why we decided to publish his photos in the paper,” the officer said.

This will not be the first time Kasango’s name is being mentioned in controversies surrounding clients’ money.

Just last month his name surfaced in a Public Account Committee hearing of the pension case scandal where billions of shillings were fraudulently paid out by Ministry officials currently under interdiction.

During the hearing, Parliament heard that the lawyer through his firm allegedly received an illegal payment of Shs15 billion from Public Service ministry before the case was concluded in court.

The money was paid in 2011 and 2012 to a lawyer after he allegedly presented a court order to the then Principal Accountant of Public Service, Mr Christopher Obey and the interdicted Permanent Secretary, Mr Jimmy Lwamafa, authorising payment of legal fees for a case which had not yet been concluded in court.
