Council of Bishops of Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) has excommunicated the Bishop of Lira pastorate, Rev Joel Mukalu.

Mukalu has been accused by the council of registering a parallel PAG Lira Ltd and unleashing violence on Christians who do not support his leadership.

The bishops have also blamed him for holding a consecration ceremony at night and failing to honour the mediation resolutions led by Rt. Rev. Henry Luke Orombi.

According to the letter Mukalu is required to hand over official documents and property in his possession within five days and failure to comply, the law will take its .

"The council of bishops unanimously resolved to excommunicate you from the fellowship and the church of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God," the letter signed by Bishop Franco Onaga, PAG General Secretary said.  "Your action has brought shame not just to PAG but to the entire Christian fraternity," a letter copied to PAG General Superintendent stated.

Wrangles in the PAG church started in 2013 where the main PAG accused bishop Mukalu of mismanaging resources especially offertory, suspension of pastors and plan to register another PAG.

He was stopped and investigation kicked off.

But Bishop Mukalu refused to pave way for investigation, he instead put court injunction to halt the process.

With support from a section of Christian, he registered an independent PAG Lira Ltd and they are fellowshipping at the main church.

Johnson Adupa, the group`s spokesperson said they are an independent PAG Lira and no longer members of the main PAG.
