There was panic among waragi drinkers in Luweero following an incident in which two elderly men collapsed and died after a drinking spree in Wobulenzi town.

The duo are said to have drunk the liquor in Nakadingidi zone, a slum area of Wobulenzi town.

Luweero District Police Commander, Godfrey Ninsiima, on Tuesday identified the two victims as: Livingstone Sentongo, 65, a resident of Kikoma village near Wobulenzi town and Stone Kakooza a resident of Busebwe village in Nakasongola.

Kakooza had reportedly paid Sentongo. He said the host took his guest to Maama Small's bar, a shanty drinking place in Nakadingidi zone, where they downed several glasses of waragi.

A post mortem report from Kasana Health Centre IV where the victims' bodies were taken indicated that they died of intoxication resulting from excessive consumption of alcohol. Ninsiima warned residents against excessive consumption of alcohol .
