KABAROLE – The King of Tooro Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru has named Bernard Tungwaho as the new prime minister of the kingdom.

Oyo named Tungwaho Friday before the Orukurato (kingdom’s parliament) at the Mucwa chambers in South Division in Fort Portal Municipality.

The king then thanked the outgoing prime minister Steven Kaliba for his contribution to the kingdom.

Tungwaho is expected to take oath at another event to be held at the king’s palace at Karuzika the same day.

“I urge the new prime minister to preserve the dignity and culture of Toro” Oyo said.

Kaliba, who also attended the session, dismissed media reports that he had been sacked.

“The king did not sack me and I did not resign either,” he said, refuting earlier media claims.

“When I accepted to serve as prime minister I was given a two-year term which expired in April and since that time I have been waiting to hand over office” Kaliba told the Orukurato.
