GAYAZA - The body of Engineer Charles Kazibwe lies in state at his ancestral home in Gayaza ahead of burial scheduled for later today.

His body was transferred on Wednesday to Kayebe-Gayaza at around 1:00pm local time (EAT) from Nsambya hospital mortuary where it had been since Monday.

Upon its arrival, there was a service led by Rev. Francis Muyingo of Our Lady Church of Gayaza.

Muyingo told mourners that Kazibwe was a good believer who loved and socialized with people.

“He was a believer and loved people through socializing with them in church and village meetings,” Muyingo eulogized.

He also urged people to forgive the fallen engineer any one he might have wronged.

He was married to former VP Specioza Kazibwe but they parted ways in 2002 following reported cases of domestic violence.

Julian Kazibwe, one of their daughters who is staying in London was still in Mombasa, Kenya by press time after her flight was relocated due to the fire that broke out at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Wednesday morning.

She is expected to attend her father’s burial which is set for 4.00pm local time (EAT) today.

After the service on Wednesday, the public viewed the body.

Other children of Eng. Kazibwe George Bomboca, Monica Kazibwe and Peter Nsubuga attended the service but Dr. Specioza did not appear.

It is not known yet whether she will attend today’s burial. Another funeral service is set for midday today at Our Lady Church in Gayaza.
