Kayabwe police in Mpigi reports one person is dead and two injured after a fuel tanker collided with a Toyota Corona at Buganga close to Katonga along Masaka road.

Mpigi police traffic boss Gamal Abdu Kadri said the driver of the Kampala-bound Toyota Corona veered from his side of the road and rammed into the fuel tanker, UAM 140V. He said beer bottles were found inside the car.

The occupants of the Corona were rushed to Nkozi hospital.

Earlier Police battled a crowd led by bodaboda riders that was eager to siphon fuel!

The Tuesday evening accident sparked fears of a repeat of a similar fatal accident late June that claimed over 38 people in Namungona on the outskirts of Kampala.
