Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye Thursday took over office as the minister of state for Health in charge of general duties from his predecessor Sarah Kataike.

Kataike was transferred in the Office of the Prime Minister as state minister in charge of Luweero triangle.

Handing over office at the ministry of health headquarters in Kampala, Kataike noted that a number of key issues are still pending at the ministry which needs immediate attention. He singled out the recruitment of staff at the ministry.

“As you will notice the ministry is understaffed and many directors are overwhelmed with so many assignments which makes it hard for them to perform effectively” Kataike said.

She asked the incoming minister to work closely with the ministry of public service to ensure that recruitment of new ministry staff is done.

Tumwesigye who has served as vice chairperson of the Parliament social services  committee and chairperson HIV/AIDS committee called on his team at the ministry to ensure that they do not concentrate on doing great things but rather do small things with love.
