General Aronda Nyakairima Wednesday took over as Internal Affairs minister pledging to hit the road running especially on critical government projects like the National Identity cards project.

Highlighting his priorities, the General who took over the docket after a protracted battle with Parliament placed emphasis on service delivery and put the staff in the nine departments under it on notice saying: watch my lips. “Watch my lips. It is going to service delivered, service delivered and nothing short of that. It is about your service to the country.

Speaking moments after his predecessor Hillary Onek handed over to him, Aronda disclosed that top on his agenda will be completing what he termed as unfinished business, under which he lumped the National Identity cards project and safety of the people and law and order.

“The President told me that he wants a national identity card and for us in the military when an order is given, I hit the road running. So those who are in that area you should take note,” he said at the function held in the ministry board room, teeming with department heads. Also present was the state minister James Baba, the Permanent Secretary Dr. Stephen Kagoda.
