Up to 15 music students of Kabojja International School will sit for the international music examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABSRM), an international music examinations body centered in London.

According to the head of the school’s department of music/performing arts, Daniel Ssempereza, the students will do their exams on June 15.

“We have prepared the students well for both theory and practical. We are confident they will do well,” Ssempereza said.

Ssempereza said this during a mini recital staged by the music students of Kabojja International School, at the school’s campus in Buziga, near Ggaba, on May 15.

The concert, which was also attended by some parents, featured over 23 music students, who performed classical, jazz, soul and urban contemporary musical pieces.

Katrina Venvik probably put up one of the best performances of the day. She sang with maximum expressiveness.

Katrina was at her best as she played Pachabel’s Canon in D, with infectious grace.

Also awesome was William Ssozi, a budding pianist, who displayed enormous improvisation power as he played Frank Sinatra’s Fly me to the moon.

The concert also featured guest violinist Esther Nampereza, who wowed the audience with her expressional performance of My heart will go on (from the movie Titanic).

Nampereza displayed great knowledge/masterly and passion for her violin as she performed.

Others who performed impressivelyincluded among others Mariam Kyama, Emmanuel Onwuanaku (jazz-drums), Manan Gadhia (guitar), Mathan Gadhia (piano), Jordan Bridges (rhythm guitar), Christian Drani (School band’s lead singer) and Blessed Magezi, who sang Bruno Mars’ When I was your man.

Maureen Tindi, the deputy head teacher said the school’s management would work harder to develop the students’ musical talents.
