Democratic Party (DP) president general, Norbert Mao, has been admitted to International Hospital Kampala, party officials said on Tuesday.

The acting party spokesperson, Kenneth Paul Kakande, told a news conference in Kampala that Mao on Monday got some complications and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He however, dismissed reports that the party chief was in comma.

Early this year, Mao took leave from party activities. “We have 40 leaders who will steer the party in my absence. My doctors have advised that I rest,” Mao announced.

“I need to take a break for my own health and from the petty internal bickering and gain strength for bigger battles ahead of me to liberate Uganda,” he explained.

Last year, Mao was flown to Nairobi Hospital for severe chest pain treatment.
