KCCA captain Ssaka Mpiima is optimistic that his side will reach the Uganda Cup final for the second time in a row. KCCA were beaten by URA 4-2 on penalties after 2-2 draw in the last edition.

Mpiima made the remarks after KCCA beat Lweza 1-0 in the first leg semifinal of the Uganda Cup at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Sunday.

“A win is a win, I don’t think Lweza can come from a goal down to beat us 2-0 to eliminate us. My side will reach the final again,” Mpiima stated.

However, Lweza coach Hamza Kalanzi contradicted Mpiima pointing out that a few aspects need to be put together for Lweza to eliminate KCCA

“Some of my players were rested due to our league game soon. We were away but KCCA should not celebrate yet because when we face them at home it will be a different chapter,” Kalanzi added.

Herman Wasswa scored the lone goal for the Lugogo based side.

At Kakindu, SC Villa coach Ibrahim Kirya praised his side for the good performance after defeating BUL 1-0 in the second semifinal of the competition. Denis Kamanzi scored for Villa.
