POLICE in Kibaale district have said they will carry out a DNA test on Apolonia Kobusinge to establish whether she is the same woman who was buried in 2004.

“We decided to carry out a DNA test to get facts whether this is the real person buried some 11 years back,” the Kibaale district police commander Patrick Ewan said.

Residents of Nkakwa village in Hapuyo Sub County in Kyegegwa district were recently left speechless after Kobusinge whom they thought they had buried over 10 years ago resurfaced in neighbouring Kibaale district.

Preliminary information revealed that Kobusinge was sighted in the bushy hill of Kabasekende village in Bwsamiramira sub county Kibaale district by residents who arrested her and took her to police suspecting that she was either a criminal or insane.

Ewan said that in the meantime Kobusinge has been asked to stay at Kabasekende as police continues with investigations into the matter.

He told New Vision that whatever will come out of the DNA police will have to abide by that.

“As police we are open and whatever results the DNA test comes out with is what we shall implement,” said Ewan.

He said that they had taken blood samples from the woman, her mother, Auntie and father to establish the facts.

Kobusinge’s mother Femia Kamaransamba, 54, told New Vision that her daughter died in 2004 after she was involved in a road accident at Nyamugura on the Kibaale-Kagadi road when returning from an Owobusobozi Bisaka function.

Kamaransamba said that they were informed of their daughter’s death and arrangements were made to pick the body for decent burial.

“I was told that my daughter had perished in a road accident and we mourned her death and buried her the following day,” said Kamaransamba.

She said that Kobusinge was buried on the 17th of February 2004 but events that occurred at her burial left many questions unanswered.
