VARIOUS sports activities will be staged in Gulu today to mark the Olympic Day.

Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) will be joining the rest of the world to celebrate the day. These celebrations annually climax the June 16 to 23rd Olympic week.

UOC also partnered with Uganda Police who yesterday organised mini sports activities at Kibuli.

The climax of these activities will be in Gulu at Pece Stadium.

UOC, through its Sports for all Commission, has a series of activities that include school talks aimed at inculcating Olympic Values among students.

The main purpose of this event is to develop the children into future Olympians who value sport, friendship and fair play without necessarily losing their competitive spirit.

A team of officials during the Olympic week visit schools to talk to students and also share experiences on the Olympic values through UOC's Culture and Olympic Education Commission.

Activities to mark the day in Gulu will include a 10km road run, cycling, basketball, volleyball, netball, woodball, football, tug of war and dodge ball.

People in Guku are looking forward to the activities.
