FORMER Uganda Tennis Open champion David Oringa will be out for two months but his consolation is that he will have healed when the season hits the peak.

Oringa who was advised by a doctor when to take the injury layoff hopes to make a comeback in the Simba Cement Tanzania Open in Tanzania.

“I am now at school and will concentrate on fitness as I heal. The last four months of the year will be quite busy. I will play FUTURES tournament in Mombasa and the East Africa money which starts in Burundi in September,” Oringa stated.

Oringa endured a muscle strain when he partnered with Duncan Mugabe to win the doubles in the Kenya Open last weekend.

Oringa’s injury rules him out of the East African Challengers expected to be held by August.

“You remember when i retired while playing against Mugabe in the Legends Challenge at Lugogo, I thought it was a simple muscle injury but the doctor said one of my muscle fibers is strained. That why I feel a sharp pain,” Oringa explained.

The 2012 Uganda Open champion attributed his defeat to Rwandan Jean Claude Gasigwa in the semifinal of the Kenya Open to the injury.

“I might not play the East African Challengers but I have to take the physiotherapist’s advice. I will be back later in the year,” he stated.

The Uganda Christian University first year student will have to shift full attention to academics as he heals.
