It was the saddest thing to witness; three young children, crying and hurting, seeking answers from equally bewildered residents, to who had killed their father.

Seven year-old Dalton Silaje Mubiru moved mourners to tears; and emotions run high as irate residents gathered at the late Sam Mubiru Tabaala’s home, whose body was found in his vehicle on Sunday morning in Kyanja near Kisasi.

Dalton’s elder brother, Darius Mulah Mubiru 9, was crying too, as they held their little sister, Daniela Nabi Namubiru, just six months old.

The widow, Pamela Mubiru, overwhelmed with grief, cried out; “What am I going to do with these young children? You have been everything to us; we have also been killed.”

The children asked who had murdered their father

40-year old Mubiru was discovered murdered; his head was slumped on the steering wheel of his Toyota Ipsum, registration number UAP 427H with his hands and legs bound with a new rope, while another rope was still around his neck.

Though he had money and a mobile phone in his pockets the assailants did not seem interested in them, pointing to a possible contract killing.

Colleague speaks of last customers

Mubiru was a cab driver operating at the Ntinda stage. His colleague Fred Kajoba narrated that on Saturday evening about 7.00pm, as they were preparing to retire; two young men approached Mubiru and said they were going to Kyanja.

The widow said Mubiru was everything to the young family

Mubiru accepted to take them since it was the direction to his home.

Kajoba said that lately the deceased had been telling him of someone who had been threatening him. He made reference to someone who sometime back knocked Mubiru’s car and was to pay sh5m in damages after matters went up to the Police.

However other colleagues said it was unlikely as the person had agreed to pay for the damages but had said he was stilling putting the money together.

Others though said Mubiru could have been another victim of a car robbery that went wrong and the thugs fled after failing to get the car got stuck.

Ritah Nabukenya, a resident of the area noted that security in the area was lax with several cases of people being attacked reported, but no one suspects had been caught.

Denis Wanyama, Kira police DPC said investigations were underway but cautioned cab drivers, who have lately become targets of car robbers to always frisk passengers before taking them.

Three cab drivers have in the recent past died in similar circumstances in Mukono, Wakiso and Namasuba.
