Non-league side Kimaka FC progressed to the semi-finals of the Lawrence Makubuya Memorial Cup at the expense of defending champions Walukuba West A on Sunday.

Musa Magumba and Alex Okello each scored a brace as Kimaka brushed off Walukuba in a result that left Jinja fans stunned.

The defending champions drew first blood when Hassan Kimera buried the ball from the spot five minutes into the first half at the Mainstreet ground.

But the favorites saw their lead crumble and their dominance eventually ripped into pieces in a humiliating yet entertaining game.

Magumba proved a constant threat to the opponents and his power saw him create two chances for his fellow attacker Okello to thrust Kimaka into the lead before half time.

Theirs was an attacking force that proved too much for the trailing defending champions, who allowed them too much space to throw everything at them.

And for their lethargic display that left them clearly hapless, Walukuba were soon punished as Magumba turned scorer twice, wrapping up the rout five minutes from the final whistle.

After the game, the delighted goal scorer spoke of his side’s enthusiasm.

“We were fired up for the game and we never wanted to know that they were the defending champions. We definitely stuck to our game and it paid off.”

Magumba was named man of the match after guiding his side to their first ever semifinal of the competition.

Earlier, Clement Lomuna scored the decisive penalty that helped three-time Cup champions St Jude win 6-5 against crowd favorites Aseka Aseke FC.

Both sides put up an enthralling 2-2 show in normal time and had to be separated by spot kicks.

St Jude’s 20-year-old goal keeper Rogers Omedua who was the hero after saving four penalties while his opposite Benson Wagima stopped one less.
