Jackie Chandiru is one of those local artists who can give you an energetic performance on any given day and time.

But she’s not so good with a live band, as revelers who graced her Club Unplugged show at Silk Lounge witnessed Friday night.

But like said, she puts on a lively performance and no one should dispute her for always giving it a try.

At 10:30pm, she had teed off her performance with a number of songs she did in her ancestral dialect, Lugbara. The crowds weren’t picking a darn thing she was saying, but decided to nod along to the beats as time swept on.

Before she broke into the interval, she dedicated her rendition of Rihanna’s “Diamond’ to ‘we’ the single ladies in the house. Is Jackie single? Tongues wagged.

Anyway, renowned city guitarist Myko Ouma took over the stage with four scintillating songs that included ‘Club Banger,’ and ‘No Name’ pieces that swept off some jazz-oriented revelers, as Jackie’s caught a breather. But it’s his ‘smile’ piece that got some crowds off their haunches. It was too nice to be ignored.

Jackie returned, invited rapper Navio (above) for some cameo performances on songs like Wind It Up. She then took us till midnight doing her crowd-favourite hits like Agasi, Hitaji and Gold Digger. By the time she shut shop, a chunk of the crowd was contented.

But a final word to Jackie.

If she’s never been comfortable performing in short dresses, she should stop wearing them. We are just tired seeing her clutching them whenever they threaten to expose her upwards.
