A new business Industrial Park located in Kyebando in Kampala has created 1,500 jobs for Ugandans.

A new business Industrial Park located in Kyebando, Kampala has created 1,500 jobs for Ugandans.


Tirupati Development Limited managing director, Miraj Barot, told the President at the commissioning of the facility at Kyebando in Kampala that 135 warehouses have been let out by his enterprise.

The Park is a home to producers of various items such as shoes, milk and crafts.

President Yoweri Museveni commended the proprietors of Tirupati (U) Limited for their business acumen.

The new facility, whose ground breaking ceremony took place in July 2012, houses a variety of local and international industries that are involved in the manufacturing of a wide range of products.

The President toured a number of private enterprises sited there that are involved in baking as well as cottage industries which carries out weaving activities.

“We have stability because we came through a revolution. We created a new dispensation based on the people and a strong Army. Our country is peaceful and no one can disturb it,” he said.

He revealed that Uganda has got people who are educated adding that the NRM Government is working hard to ensure that those acquire life-sustaining skills.

President Museveni congratulated the proprietors of Tirupati, who are the Barat family members that came to Uganda from India with spectacles to see the abundant opportunities, for the establishment of the facility. He said that Africans are hard-working people who have been used to traditional farming methods.

He assured the investors that that the Government would support them in their ventures since there is security, stability and infrastructure development is aggressively being built.

Museveni announced that work in modernizing the railway system to the Indian Ocean coast was in progress. He said that the aim of revamping the railway system is to ensure that trains are able to travel from Mombasa to Kampala in one day.

The President gave assurances that Uganda has a huge potential in agriculture especially in the production of maize and beans. He informed guests at the ceremony, who included a delegation of the Federation of Gujarat Industries, that there are broad opportunities in the processing of leather, fruits and food items such as beef and fish.

He added that the country has a wide variety of raw materials that require to be processed observing the need for more investors.

Trade minister Amelia Kyambaddenoted that the political stability has played a leading role in enabling investors to come to Uganda.

She also commended Tirupati for supplementing Government efforts to set up warehouses. She observed that currently there is a shortage of storage facilities for close to 2 million tons of goods.

Barot said that Uganda was a home of peace noting that the Government has restored investor confidence for both local and international enterprises. He reported that plans were underway to establish Small and Medium Enterprises business Parks in 6 towns in the country.
