National men volleyball league champions' coach Sheilla Omuriwe Buyungo and Nkumba University coach Tony Lakony are in Germany to attend a five-month international coaching course.

The course is as part of the foreign cultural and educational policy of the Germany foreign office.

The two travelled on Tuesday courtesy of Brussels Airlines who offered them discounted air tickets.

The hands on course is the second of a kind for Ugandans in one year. It follows a similar one that was extended to swimming coaches Muzafar Muwanguzi and Tonnie Kasujja who returned last week.

"Basing on the history of similar courses I think we are going to be taken through the basics of the sport, and we might tackle more detailed aspects of the sport, so I'm just excited to be part of this," Omuriwe who is also a libero on the national women team said.

"It is going to help me beef up what I have and also understand the game more technically,"

Just like Omuriwe, Lakony also expects to gain more knowledge.

"I expect it to be detailed and scientific in nature tackling nutrition, muscle development, statistics and data keeping. It is a productive course and we hope we are going to benefit a lot as it is going to enrich us and help us move forward," Lakony, who is also the UVF technical director said of the course.
