President Yoweri Museveni is among the key dignitaries who will grace this year’s Yiiya Ssente forum organized by Bukedde newspaper this Saturday.

Describing him as the chief marketer of Uganda’s products, Vision Group boss Robert Kabushenga said the President will help to guide the youth on how and where to market their produce.

The forum gives the youth and other business-oriented adults the opportunity to listen to prominent businessmen and experts in order to inculcate in them an entrepreneurial spirit.

Unlike the first two which were held at Freedom City, this year’s forum will take place at Kololo Airstrip.

“Previously, we have been teaching people the various business opportunities that can get them out of poverty.

Majority of those who have been attending started working but are now complaining of the limited market for their produce,” Kabushenga said.

“So, the people we are bringing this time are the ones who can advise on ways of marketing our products,” he said.

Apart from the President, other speakers will include former executive director of the Uganda Investment Authority, Dr. Maggie Kigozi.

As one of the directors of Crown Beverages Ltd, Kigozi is an accomplished businesswoman and commercial farmer.

She will be accompanied by Bulaimu Kibirige aka BMK, the proprietor of Hotel Africana and Ssalongo Mukasa Kasawuli of Samona Products.

Kasawuli and Kibirige have demonstrated efficiency in marketing, a key business trait Kabushenga said most entrepreneurs need to learn.

“We want people to learn how to win buyers. How can a carpenter, for instance, market his chairs and tables? This is what we shall be learning this time,” Kabushenga added.

Other presenters will come from the East Africa Basic Foods as well as KK Foods.

The two companies export agricultural products and, according to Kabushenga, will help to teach commercial farmers and agro-processors how to market their products.

“As a media house, we have the opportunity to talk to many influential personalities,” Kabushenga said.

On top of performing the media primary role of informing, educating and entertaining the public, Kabushenga said the company resolved to help Ugandans get out of poverty so as to spur economic growth.

Kabushenga said shifting the forum from its usual venue to Kololo Airstrip was intended to guarantee the President’s security without inconveniencing traders at Freedom City.
