Mbale UMA trade fair opens Wednesday

Over 350 companies are expected to participate in the 8th Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) eastern regional trade fair at Mbale municipality stadium.

Over 350 companies are expected to participate in the 8th Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) eastern regional trade fair at Mbale municipality stadium.


The trade fair show manager, Suleiman Mukasa, said that the show commences on May 29 and ends on June 4, 2013.

Mukasa said that the show is organized under the theme; Expanding investment in economic growth in the region.

He said several companies across the eastern and central Africa have confirmed their participation.

“Some of the big companies from outside Uganda that have showed interest in exhibiting their products include Kenya Port Authority, Brookside diaries, food processing factories and catering institutions, ” Mukasa said.

Mukasa explained that the number of individuals, big and small scale companies that are interested in exhibiting their products is steadily growing since the trade show was introduced in eastern region in 2001.

He noted that most of the big companies within Uganda have registered and even set up their stall where they will be exhibiting their products and these include, construction companies, food processing companies, media houses, higher institution of learning, manufacturing companies and venders.

He said that other exhibitors that have shown interest in attending the trade fair show include, financial institutions, Reptile village from Entebbe, telecom companies and information technology companies.
According to the organizers, security will be tight.
