A kaleidoscope of fashion statements and awkward walking gaits graced the Garden City rooftop last Saturday as teenagers from a variety of Ugandan schools thronged the launch of the second season of Mirinda Miss Teens.

Whoever felt they had talent just went on stage and show it off, at the beckoning of event emcees, MC Talha and Sheila Gashumba, who did an amazing job keeping the teenagers hooked.

The teenagers modeled, sang, danced, while others designed outfits in record time. Such display of talent impressed the guest of honour, Gayaza High School headmistress Victoria Kisarale, who welcomed the pageant’s second season, saying it reminded her of her teenage days.

Boys were majorly left to cheer the girls, as it was a girls’ day out. Some though still jumped onto stage and gave their share, winning goodies from headline sponsor Mirinda Green Apple.

Musical performances from Irene Ntale, Swangz Avenue singers and Baboon Forest’s Mun*G electrified the daytime event, which ended at 6:00pm.

The season’s judges, New Vision society editor Nigel Nassar, who was also a judge last season, and Daily Monitor’s Brenda Banura, will traverse the country with the Mirinda team in search of a girl who knows how to free their fun side, an attribute of Mirinda.

This girl will have to possess great talent and character with a touch of attractiveness, intelligence, boldness, focus and sense of humor.

Last year’s crown was taken by Abigail Amahoro from Seeta High, having beaten 19 finalists from several schools to the prestigious crown, which comes with a year’s school fees scholarship and shopping vouchers among other benefits.

This year’s pageant is themed Beach Edition because beach moments are associated with fond memories of fun and excitement; attributes that drive the Mirinda brand.
