President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned a sh5.8b technical institute in Kamuli district.

President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned a sh5.8b technical institute in Kamuli district.


The Nawanyogo Technical Institute was constructed in a record time of one year by Ambitious Construction Limited.

The state-of-the-art building comprises of a main administration block (administration, library, classrooms, computer room and boardroom), dormitory blocks that accommodates 156 students, principal's house and restrooms.

Facilities include plumbing and pipe fitting, and wielding and fabrication workshops, four units for teaching staff, power and generator house and gate house.

The contractor put in place ramps for persons with disabilities.

The commissioning of the building was witnessed by ministers among them education minister Jessica Alupo; trade minister Amelia Kyambade, lands minister Daudi Migereko, state for foreign affairs Asuman Kiyingi, youth affairs minister Ronald Kibuule and, Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

Present also were education officials Dr. Jane Egau Okou, the assistant commissioner project coordinator; Kamuli LC5 chief Salaama Musumba, former foreign affairs minister Isaac Musumba, Kamuli RDC Herman Ssentongo, area MPs and others.

The coordinator of the project Jane Egau said the funding of the technical college was from OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

She said Nawanyago institute is one of the 25 technical institutions in the country that benefited from the funding earmarked for construction, expansion and rehabilitation to a tune of sh200b.
