Lukoma's Owino collection rocks Silk Fashion Nite

2013 has had a number of fashion shows, but we must agree Helen Lukoma’s show at the Silk fashion Nite last week was honest and different. She admitted right from the beginning that she did not design the clothes, but was showcasing what she has in her boutique on Kampala Road.

The former Obsessions and HB Toxic musician also made sure people knew what was being showcased by having a model hold a black and white poster to indicate what collection was coming up next.
 

“I wanted to be understood, I did not want the Emcee mixing up my collections. I am positive my message was heard loud and clear,” she explained.

Her collection was mainly to show the average clothing buyer that they do not need chunks of money to look stylish and fashionable, and she showcased clothes from China, ‘downtown’ Owino, Roll model, and HL for men.

It was first, murmurs, then giggles, at the announcement of the upcoming collection, Owino, but when the models made their way on the runway, wearing the orange pencil skirt, and the checked sleeveless blouse, the comments turned into “wow”, “that is great”….

In the same collection was the red pencil dress ruffled at the waist, the black pencil dresses, and high print shorts over the jean shirt.

Lukoma did not only cater for the ladies, but also the gents with her HL collection; in her words - “what her ideal man should look like.”

If you take a look at the high urban tight fitting black suit, the African print short sleeve shirt, and the grey free fitting suit, you will know what Lukoma expects of your style, if you are to be her man.
