Immature matooke is one that has not reached the full level of growth and is difficult to peel.

“Our big customers are mainly those who transact wholesale purchases like restaurants, and small hotels in town.”

But lately, with the current supply of immature matooke, sales keep dropping by the day because the hotels and restaurants nolonger trust the traders to supply good food.

“Majority of the customers find the steamed immature matooke hard to eat,” Victoria Karungi, manager of restaurant in Kampala says.

According to Ngande, immature matooke is not the only thing affecting their businesses but also the on going rains.

He says that currently the roads in a number of producing areas like Mbarara, Masaka, and Fortportal are in a terrible state.
