Muslim clerics' murder: 12 more charged

Twelve more people including Tabliq leader, Amil Uma Sheik Muhamad Kamoga have been charged with terrorism in connection to the recent murder of two prominent Muslim clerics.

Twelve more people including Tabliq leader, Amil Uma Sheik Muhamad Kamoga have been charged with terrorism in connection to the recent murder of two prominent Muslim clerics.


They were also charged with two counts of murder contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act (PCA) and crimes against humanity under section 8 of the ICC laws of Uganda.

They suspects include: Sheik Murta Mudde ,49, Hakim Kinene Muswaswa ,23, Muzamilu Kasawuli ,23, Arafaat Serunjogi alias Bukenya ,29, Alex Okot ,44, Joseph Olanya alias Onekmon, 23.

Others are Amir Kinene, 37, Aisha Nakasibante, 31, Charles Okidi, 28, Badru Bukenya, 27, and Sheik Fahad Kalungi, 38. Of the 12 suspects, 3 are Christians and nine Muslim clerics.   

The suspects appeared before Nakawa court Grade one magistrate on Thursday. However, the court did not allow the suspects to take plea on grounds that it lacks jurisdiction to handle the case.

Magistrate Timothy Lumonye remanded the suspects until January 29 when they will re-appear for mentioning of the case.
