SC Villa's Ndugwa off to AFC Leopards

SC Villa lead striker Karim Ndugwa will travel to Kenya today to undergo a medical test before sealing a move to Premier League side AFC Leopards.

SC Villa Chief Executive Officer Ivan Kakembo confirmed that the club had decided to release Ndugwa after holding weeklong negotiations with the Kenyan side.

“Yes, we have had negotiations since Monday (last week) and we hope to be done by tomorrow (today). I can say it is progressive and only pending a medical (test),” Kakembo said.

Kakembo however could not disclose how much SC Villa would reap from the transfer of the player scheduled to sign a two year contract.

Ndugwa is currently joint third on the scorer’s chart in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) on eight goals with KCCA FC’s Brian Umony. If Ndugwa passes the medical at Leopards, he will join Ugandan defender Musa Mudde, who also plays for the same club.

Villa pursue Kasumba

In a related development, Villa are reportedly pursuing the league’s joint top scorer Umar Kasumba.

The Police striker has nine goals so far alongside Robert Ssentongo.

Club coach Sam Ssimbwa has also hinted on recalling Julius Malingumu, who had been loaned to Rwenshema football club at the start of the season.

Malingumu has scored five goals for Rwenshema so far. The transfer window opened on Thursday and is expected to run until the end of the month.

FUFA competitions and information technology manager Ali Mwebe said that the federation intends to organise a one day workshop to educate club officials on how to operate its e-transfer system being used to move players from one club to another.
