Over 100 babies born on Christmas in Kampala

At least 101 babies were born on Christmas in major health faccilities in Kampala. At the National Referal Hospital, Mulago 62 births were registered. 32 babies were boys and 30 female.

 At least 101 babies were born on Christmas in major health faccilities in Kampala. At the National Referal Hospital, Mulago 62 births were registered. 32 babies were boys and 30 female.


The in charge of the Labour ward, Sulphine Twinomuhangi, attributed the decline in the number due to the on going renovation of the hospital.

 She explained that currently the hospital handles mothers with complicated cases and the rest of the cases are referred to other hospitals within Kampala.

 "We had 42 normal deliveries and 20 were caesarean section, and among the babies we had 4 pairs of twin babies," Twinomuhangi said.  

At Mengo Hospital, 10 babies wrre born. The charge of Mpereza ward Joslyn Kabajungu said 6 were girls and 4 boys.

Rose Nanyonjo is one of mothers at Namirembe hospital  said: “ I am happy that the pain has materialized into a nice looking baby girl, she is our first born and I thank God for this.”

At Rubaga Hospital 12 babies were born.

At Lira Hospital, 17 babies were born. Of these 9 were boys.The hospital authorities said three babies were delivered through caesarian section.
