Thugs on Tuesday night murdered the proprietor of City Junior school located in Kaleerwe at his mother''s gate in Mukono.

Thugs on Tuesday night murdered the proprietor of City Junior school located in Kaleerwe at his mother's gate in Mukono Municipality.

Meddie Tamale, 30, also an employee of telecom giant MTN was shot by thugs who waylaid him at his mother, Hajat Zam Zawedde's home in Ntinda zone, Seeta at 8:00 pm. He was driving a Toyota Ipsum, UAR 476D.

A sister to the deceased, Sarah Kabaziga, said the thugs took off with an unspecified amount of money and a laptop.

Residents say they saw two men, one of them wearing a private security company uniform with a gun, seemingly waiting for someone at the shops, a few meters from where the deceased was shot.

Tamale is said to have attempted to drive straight into  the gate the moment he saw the two men approaching his car, but was too late as they opened fire at him, injuring him instantly.

Residents say they thought they heard a car tyre burst, but after a moment of silence they went in the direction of the 'explosion' only to find Tamale in his car gasping for breath and bleeding profusely.

Those who went to the scene while Tamale was still alive say he only managed to gasp ' the boys have killed me' before he passed out.

He was then rushed to hospital in Naguru before he was transfered to Mulago where he died on arrival.

His sister Kabaziga said Tamale had cheated death three times when assailants attempted to shoot him. She said that her brother always ate at his mother's place on his way home in Mulago Ddobi zone, where he was residing.

Abudkharim Kaddaala, who was with the deceased ealier, said they had left Kampala together and seperated later but were supposed to meet again in Seeta.

"I was at the mosque in Seeta and I heard bullets but I later found out Tamale is the one who had been shot," he said.

Tamale's mother, Hajat Zawedde, said she was in the house when she heard bullets but first feared to step out. Only later was she to discover her son passed out behind the wheel and bleeding profusely.

Tamale, who had no child, had shifted from Kyanja to Mulago following attempts on his life. The murder case in on file number CRB437/2013 ku of Seeta police.

He  was buried on Wednesday at his father, Hajji Ismail Mayanja’s place in Kkungu village, Kira Town Council, Wakiso district.

The acting deputy Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said that Bosco Ogwang, a guard attached to Security group, is a prime suspect in the murder.

Onyango said that Ogwang had gone missing with a gun he signed for night duty last week and did not report to work at Mukono-Kayunga Teachers SACCO in Mukono Municipality.
