The on-going music competition Airtel Trace Star has, according to Airtel people, drawn thousands of singing hopefuls from all over the country, two months since its launch.

On Tuesday afternoon at the Airtel Towers, Kampala, the competition’s organisers revealed judges tasked with handling the hopefuls bidding to win a sh100m jackpot and a chance to spend two weeks recording with African-American R&B star Akon. But that chance will come after beating other contenders from eight other different African countries.

The judges are local music producer Washington Ebangit, musician Angie Katatumba and radio presenter James Onen, commonly known as Fatboy.

The three will listen to all entries and gauge them on vocal depth, articulation, song arrangement and the overall quality of an entry song, worth production.

Airtel’s Marketing Director Prasoon Lal said reason they went for the three was because they wanted to get a fine musical product from the competition, “We have reached the most exciting part of the competition. We want to give our customers a chance to meet their music dreams and record with a superstar.”
