Buganda's Kabaka Mutebi turns 58 today

Kabaka Ronald Mutebi is expected to recognize local musician Mathias Walukagga and anti-HIV/AIDS activist Noerine Kaleeba, as he celebrates his birthday today.

MENGO, Kampala - Kabaka Ronald Mutebi is expected to give special recognition to local musician Mathias Walukagga and anti-HIV/AIDS activist Noerine Kaleeba, for their distinguished work, as he celebrates his birthday today.

Mutebi, who is turning 58, will host his guests at his Lubiri palace, Mengo.

According to Charles Peter Mayiga, the kingdom’s spokesperson, Walukagga will be recognised for his educational songs, which the Kabaka said advise people on various issues.

Both will receive certificates as a sign of appreciation for their efforts towards developing the country. Mayiga said the award was meant to encourage other Ugandans to develop their talent.

Palace gates were set for opening for the public at 8:00am, while invited guests were scheduled to arrive at 9:00am.

Dr. John Kakembo, the Archbishop of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Uganda will lead the prayers.
