A 28 year old man dropped dead while working on night duty on Tuesday at a factory in Ntinda, Nakawa division.

Geoffrey Sombe, an employee of Gentex Factory, reportedly fell down and died instantly as fellow work colleagues watched on.

He had secured a job at the factory only two weeks ago.

The factory produces pipes and water tanks, at its premises on plot No 513 Ntinda Industrial area, Kampala.

Sombe, a father of three, had two wives and hailed from Buwalasi-Bumudu in Mbale district.  The incident occurred at about 11pm Tuesday night.

Robert Wamono, a brother and an eye witness said Sombe dropped dead while lifting the plastic water pipes.

“He did not complain of the weight of the pipes he carried, but we just saw him fall down,” he said.

According to Wamono, Sombe showed no signs of any illness before his death.

His body was taken to Mulago hospital mortuary by the Kiira Road Police patrol pick up for a postmortem report, before burial arrangements, the officer in charge of Criminal Intelligence at the station, Sylvia Namuwonge, said.

She said that Police would launch investigations into the matter soon after the postmortem report from the hospital is released.
