With effect from next year, Government plans to assume full responsibility in the appointment of coaches for the national football team the Cranes.

According to State Sports Minister, Charles Bakkabulindi, “Government will set the terms of recruitment and operations so that our team is ready for any future challenges.”

Current Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic’s two year contract expires in May next year and there is speculation it might not be renewed.

On Saturday, the Serbian dismissed reports linking him to a move to South Africa Premier Soccer League club Free State Stars.

“They are talking to him at the moment, so there is a good chance he may join Free State Stars,” a source told South Africa publication KickOff.Com.

German coach Antoine Hey has reportedly applied for the Cranes top job through the National Council of Sports (NCS). The 40-year-old has managed national teams in Africa that include Gambia and Kenya. He is currently the Technical Director of football in Libya.
