Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda has asked the government to continue providing clean water to people in villages.

She said that although reports show that the number of people who are getting clean water has increased, the situation is still very bad in rural areas.

“Many residents in village are still fetching water from drainages and unprotected well springs, a situation that continues to cause numerous diseases in the countryside,” she said.

Nabagereka Nagginda was opening a piped water project at Kyandaazza village, Nakisunga Sub County in Mukono District on Wednesday where she emphasized that safe water was one of the the basic human needs; urging the community to handle the water facility with utmost care.

The project run by WEEBALE FOUNDATION will cater for the installation of water supply pipelines, water kiosks and a pumping station with a water reservoir tank. When the installation of the system is complete, the entire community will be able to access piped water.

The charity organization has pledged its commitment to continue supplying safe water to the surrounding villages in Mukono District.

"The villages with high population have been provided with piped water project to ensure uninterrupted water supply. The new piped water will help provide safe drinking water to over 50,000 residents,” Bloemendal said.
