The spotlight shifts from the national team to local action today with the resumption of the Uganda Super League.

It will be one of those rare days when all 16 teams will be in action. It offers an opportunity for Vipers, who travel to Lugazi for a date with URA in an encounter that has all the markings of a thriller, to remain at the summit.

Both coaches were talking big despite missing key players.

Vipers will miss the services of one of their lead strikers Miya Farouk, while URA will be no better as they will also be without league top scorer Robert Ssentongo.

Both players return from national duty in Morocco shortly before kick-off.

Vipers coach Edward Golola has brought on Joseph Mpande to fill Miya’s gap. Golola is confident they will remain at the top.

“We simply can’t afford to lose. Our target is to remain in the lead.”

Should Vipers slip and Villa beat Kira Young, then the table will take an interesting turn. Vipers will be level with the Jogoos at 19 points. The two sides have also each scored 10 goals against three.

Reigning champions KCC travel to Bombo for a date with Simba. The last game between the two sides at the same venue had KCCA winning 1-0.
Lweza face an uphill task against a fast improving Express.

The newcomers will be without their playmaker Mike Serumaga who has also been on national duty in AFCON qualification.
