KAMPALA - The ruling on the case in which Lance Corporal Herbert Rwakihembo is accused of shooting dead three women and injuring a man in Luzira is set for today.

The army General Court Martial sitting in Luzira on Friday wound up the trial of the soldier.

His defence lawyer, Martin Muhumuza, asked the court to set him free. The ruling on the matter has been scheduled for Monday.

During the final submissions, Muhumuza said the investigating officer had just enrolled for an investigations course and was, therefore, not qualified.

He added that ever since the alleged crime was committed, the officer had never gone back to the crime scene to carry out further investigations.

Muhumuza said most of the prosecution witnesses gave the court hearsay evidence and added that Rwakihembo had not wasted the court’s time as he told the truth.

Prosecution, however, maintained that convicted court convicts him.
