URA gets new Commissioner General

Doris Akol, Uganda Revenue Authority's commissioner for Legal and Board Affairs has been appointed as the new Commissioner General of the tax body.

Doris Akol, Uganda Revenue Authority's commissioner for Legal and Board Affairs has been appointed as the new Commissioner General of the tax body.

Making the announcement this morning, the Finance minister, Maria Kiwanuka, said the appointment ended a two year search for the replacement of outgoing commissioner general Allen Kagina who has been at the helm of the tax body for 10 years. 

Prior to this appointment Akol has also been the company secretary of the Uganda Revenue Authority, a position she has occupied for a couple of years. 

Akol holds a master of Laws degree from the McGill University in Canada and a postgraduate diploma in financial management from the Uganda Management Institute, Kampala.

According to sources, Akol's strengths include legal advisory & consultancy, policy formulation & analysis, legislative drafting, corporate governance and company secretarial practice.
