Fare-thee-well: Kasiwukira laid to rest

Thousands of mourners, among them senior army and government officials, thronged Nanziga village to bury the late Eriya Ssebunya aka Kasiwukira.

One of his daughters nearly collapsed on seeing the body being lowered into the grave. “You showed us love and you have been our pillar,” she sobbed.

Government officials, among them  Trade and Industry minister Amelia Kyambade, Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Katumba Wamala, several MPs and religious leaders, eulogised the fallen tycoon as having supported the business community and Ugandan music, while locals remembered him for being generous.

In her speech, Amelia Kyambadde commended him for contributing to the development of the country.

“Ssebunya has left a big gap in the business community; but I am requesting the Kwagalana Group to continue looking after the family and also protect his businesses,” she begged.

“Before he died, he had taught us how to work and manage finances. We are ready to maintain the company,” said Herman Kalungi who spoke on behalf of the family.
