Uganda’s 1962 Cabinet of 17 ministers

The first Cabinet after Uganda attained her independence had 17 ministers and 11 parliamentary secretaries, the equivalent of today’s ministers of state. Prior to independence, there was an alliance between Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) and Kabaka Yekka (KY) from which a coalition government was formed. Each party almost had equal representation in cabinet.
