The Uganda netball team has been voted Nile Special Uganda Sports Press Association sports team for the month of September in Kampala.

The Uganda netball team has been voted Nile Special Uganda Sports Press Association sports team for the month of September in Kampala.


The She Cranes were voted USPA’s best because of their excellent performance last month that saw them qualify for the 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

Proscovia versus She Cranes To win the award which comes with a sh500,000 cash prize, the She Cranes were voted ahead of their captain Peace Proscovia, the men and women national basketball teams and pool player Fahad Ssewankambo .

The basketball teams, for the first time in the history of Uganda basketball, qualified for the Afro Basketball while Ssewankambo won the Nile Special National Pool Open.

“We are very grateful to USPA. They have been our major supporters and this award is so timely that we shall use it as platform for sourcing funds for the world cup,” team manager Jocelyn Ucanda stated.

“Without USPA no one would know our plight down there. We all know that there very many achievers out there but selecting the She Cranes is a big boost and we thank USPA members for standing by us as we fight to fly the Uganda flag high,” Ucanda added.
