A 9-year-old girl whose disappearance led to the torching of a suspect’s house in an act of mob justice has been found – alive.
Qurusumu Nalubiri vanished on Sunday after her guardian, Sofia Nanfuka, of Masajja A on Entebbe Road had sent her to pick groceries.
Following the disappearance, residents including Nanfuka descended on the home of Maama Namirembe, a traditional healer and vandalized it before torching all her property. They accused her of having killed the girl in a ritual sacrifice.
However, the Masajja A LCI chairman, Charles Ssemagonja, said they were tipped off that a lost child was being kept at a foster home in Mbuya, where they found Nalubiri alive and well.
The girl revealed that her guardian mistreats her and it was the reason she had fled from home.
