Kampala Capital City Authority has warned local artistes against littering the city with posters and banners, during the festive season.

Addressing the press on Thursday, City boss Jennifer Musisi said that the authority has issued notices to Amalura Family, and Eagle’s production over littering the city with their posters and banners for Eddy Kenzo whose concert is over the weekend may face closure for lack of permit

“We have issued notices to artistes and if they fail to adhere to our call, we shall arrest and prosecute them,” Musisi told the press.

She said that the performers were asked by KCCA not to put up posters and banners but some have defied the directive.

According to section 20 (d) of the Solid Waste Management ordinance, 2000, it is an offence for a person to scatter or litter solid waste at any private or public property.

Section 5 (1) of the ordinance also prohibits depositing of waste on private property, public street, roadside, or in a ditch, river, stream, lake, pond, channel or in a park, excavation or any other place where it may be or become a public health nuisance.

The person found doing so will get a fine not exceeding two currency points or imprisonment not exceeding six months for a person who commits an offence under the ordinance but the process of enforcing the penalty is long which make many people dumping garbage to go un punished.

When contacted, Eddy Kenzo of the Stamina fame denied having received any notice from KCCA.
“I last launched my alum four months ago. I am not aware of anything may be my promoters received the information,” Kenzo.
