SC Villa has appointed 47 year old Sam Ssimbwa to succeed sacked coach Steven Bogere, who is reportedly heading for a coaching course in South Africa.

Ssimbwa has signed a one-year renewable contract at Villa Park and was unveiled to the press at Villa House, Lungujja on Wednesday.

“I am happy to be joining Villa. This is a winning club and my task is to restore their glory. We all know that Villa is not where it belongs (at the top), so it is a challenge I am taking on with determination to succeed,” Ssimbwa said with an unmatched confidence.

“I know I will be judged according to my results and I am sure collectively we shall achieve our goals,” Ssimbwa added.

Ssimbwa’s first game in charge at Villa will be a Uganda Premier League home game against URA FC in Mityana on Friday.

Ssimbwa is one of Uganda experienced tacticians having coached Mbale Heroes, Express FC, KCC FC, Simba SC and SC Victoria University locally and, Atraco FC (Rwanda), Rwanda Police FC, Sofapaka FC (Kenya) and the Somalia National team.

He coached Rwanda’s Police FC to win the Rwanda Anti-Corruption Cup last year and finished second in Rwanda Cup.
