Two-year-old Sharif Mukisa has been sick since his birth. He developed hydrocephalus, (a condition that makes a kid’s head to swell) at one month.

From then on,  Mukisa’s mother, Yozephina Kirabira, said her husband, Saidi Musolo’s behaviour towards them changed.

She said when she got pregnant again Musolo abandoned them, saying he could not wait for her to give birth to another abnormal child. Musolo was a fisherman at Galiraya landing site where they lived in a rented room.

This week, Kirabira came to the New Vision offices for assistance. She said CURE hospital in Mbale, agreed to admit the sick child for a possible operation at a fee of shs750,000.

Malaika Babies Home in Mengo, have offered to take care of Kirabira’s seven-month-old baby as she attends to the sick child while Raising Voices and staff of New Vision have contributed towards her  transport.
