No factions in FDC says Gen. Muntu

Newly elected Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president, Maj.Gen. Mugisha Muntu has unveiled the action plan for his two-year term of office.

Speaking at his first press conference as party president in Najjanakumbi on Monday, Muntu said his main focus is to resolve internal party conflicts.

On members aggrieved by the outcome of the presidential polls, Muntu said he was ready to listen and address their complaints through the established party organs.

He said the aggrieved members could also petition the election tribunal for the matter to be investigated. However, he noted that he has never received any petition from the members of the alleged breakaway faction.

“Whatever happens today is a reflection of who we are to the public. All eyes are watching to see our next step after the process,” he noted.

He dismissed allegations of factions within the party, saying it is just a normal internal contradiction.

In the next three years, Muntu said he plans to recruit more people to expand the party membership and create a strong foundation for the party in preparation for the 2016 presidential elections.

He also said he will focus on raising funds for the party.

According to Muntu, unlike before, the party is to identify its intending flag-bearers in the 2016 national elections a year before the elections.

The party is also to review the various party policies and make changes where necessary.
