Musisi sets up city planning committee

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director Jennifer Musisi has constituted a physical planning committee, following a directive from Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister for the Presidency.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director Jennifer Musisi has constituted a physical planning committee, following a directive from Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister for the Presidency.

 Tumwebaze, who is also in charge of Kampala, on Tuesday ordered Musisi to set up a physical planning committee, saying many investors in Kampala had complained to him over the losses they had incurred because of delays in approving building plans.

The committee will inspect sites, issue plans, enforcement notices and occupation permits, approve plans, enforcement and demolition.

Other duties of the committee are to plan for the development of the urban design, infrastructure and administer land management.

The committee is chaired by Musisi, with members from the technical team, who include directors of physical planning, Joseph Semambo; engineering and technical services, Andrew Kitaka; education and social services, Anne Galiwango; public health, Dr. Godfrey Habomugisha and gender and community services, Harriet Mudondo.

Others are deputy director of public health, deputy director production and marketing, roads and manager surveying.

Town clerks; Godfrey Kisekka, (Nakawa), Francis Barabawe (Rubaga), Theophlius Tibihika (Makindye), James Luyimbazi  (Kawempe) and Jimmy Ambrose Atwoko (Central) are also members.
