MUKONO - Police in Mukono District have arrested two school administrators over a missing child.

Police identified the suspects as Florence Nabasumba, 42, the head teacher of New Hope for Africa Primary School in Goma division, Mukono district, and her deputy, Jessica Andero, 27.

The officer in charge of crime in Mukono district, Henry Mugumya, said that a primary six boy, Apollo Ochora, 13, in the boarding section vanished from school on October 30, 2012.

Mugumya said that the school administrators only reported to the parents 10 days later.

He said that the administrators reported to Police on November 17, after searching and failing to find the boy.

He added that Police investigations showed that the boy was staying with Andero instead of his colleagues in the boarding section as per the parents’ intention.

“We have arrested the duo on charges of negligence. We want them to help us find the boy. Failure to find him alive they will be prosecuted,” he said.

The boy’s mother, Grace Amanyo, who resides in Kaberaido District, was overwhelmed with anger and resignation as she shed tears at the Police station, saying she had looked everywhere she suspected the boy to have gone in vain.

Grace Amanyo, the boy’s mother in tears at Mukono police station on Thursday.

“He could have been kidnapped and sacrificed. I am holding the school administrators responsible. They could have had a hidden agenda not to let me know in time. Seriously I need my son alive,” said Amanyo while wiping tears from her face.

In her defence, Nabasumba said that the boy had got a dislocation in the arm while playing with the friends the day before his disappearance.

“When we took him for medical examination in the sick bay, he feared being injected and at the end disappeared,” she said.
